Lombardi Ranch and Rev It Up

  • Mood:
  • Random: Ryan's school had their Harvest Party today. We're going to carve his pumpkins when he gets home.
Last Saturday, my parents and Ryan and I went to the Lombardi Ranch's pumpkin patch. It was a nice day out. There was live music, and a ton of stuff to do. The first thing Ryan did was cavort in a hay bale maze. He loved it! My mom and Ryan and I went on a train ride through the sunflower and corn fields. There were dozens of scarecrows scattered throughout. There was also an area you could walk through called Scarecrow Alley. My mom, Ryan, and I didn't walk through, but my dad did. The scarecrows in there were a lot cooler! Luckily, my dad took lots of photos.
Next on the agenda was face painting. Ryan loves having his face painted. From there, Ryan frolicked in the pumpkin area, which had a bunch of things to climb on: a hay pyramid, a pumpkin statue, an antique fire truck, and a "police" truck. Ryan had a blast!
It was finally time to get down to the business of picking out a pumpkin. I told Ryan he could get whatever pumpkin he wanted. I made the mistake of not picking up a cart on our way to the pumpkin field. Of course Ryan picked a very heavy pumpkin, and of course it was at the end of the field farthest from the check stand! Ryan wanted a second pumpkin, and being the indulgent mommy that I am, said okay. Luckily, someone took pity on me and gave me a cart they were no longer using. (My parents had gone back to the car.) While we were in line for the checkout, Ryan insisted on pulling the cart. He was actually able to do it - I was impressed! Those were heavy pumpkins! Even in a cart, it wasn't easy to pull them along.
Unfortunately, right when we got to the check stand, Ryan somehow hurt himself on the cart. He howled at first, but fortunately was quickly distracted by the business of me applying first aid cream and a band aid. (Thank you, Lancaster Community Hospital, for the purse-sized first aid kit!) Once Ryan was patched up, we paid for our pumpkins and headed home. In the parking lot, before I could even close the trunk, someone came along and asked for our cart. That was nice - we didn't have to return it!
Almost right across the street from our house, Faith Community Church was having a free event called, "Rev It Up." There were all sorts of things kiddos could climb around on. Ryan got to climb of four different types of diggers (CAT type), a humvee, a garbage truck, a home-built airplane, and a few go-cart type things. We got there rather late in the day, but Ryan still had a great time and managed to get into/onto nearly everything there.
It was a fun day, and a nice, easy twofer for our Saturday.
Below are pics from our day. Enjoy!
